ELKHART — Burton L. "Burt" Arnett, 79, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2012, at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Burt was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Elkhart to the late Ezra and Lula (Gilbert) Arnett. On Oct. 22, 1955, he married the former Gloria L. Perra at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors are his wife, Gloria L. Arnett; son Danny J. Arnett; daughters Cathy M. Lytell-Arnett and Sandy L. (Terry) Smith, all of Elkhart; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Burt worked as a car wash attendant, in the maintenance department at Vincent Bach, for Parr Inc. and as a truck driver for Northern Box Co. in Elkhart. He attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow skiing and bowling. He also enjoyed the family time spent at their cottage on Orchard Lake in Michigan.

Friends may call for two hours prior to the 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Bill Sullivan will officiate. Folding and presentation of the flag by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will conclude the evening. Cremation will follow at Altera Cremation Services, with burial at a later date at Prairie Street Cemetery in the Veteran Towers.
