He was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Owosso, Mich., to Almond and Nellie C. (Granger) Quirk. He married Alice M. Spenner in 1963 in Roseland.
She survives in Jacksonville, Fla., along with six daughters, Cindy L. Gaunder, also of Jacksonville, Pamela J. Powell of Mishawaka, Sharon L. Quirk, Dawn J. Quirk and Kitty S. Hibshman, all of Elkhart, and Tamera L. Schrock of Middlebury; two sons, Wayne J. and William A. Quirk, both of Elkhart; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas (Jean) Quirk of Winnetka, Ill.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Life Tabernacle Church, 1135 Middlebury St., Elkhart, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Mark A. Johnson of the church will officiate. Cremation will follow services.
Mr. Quirk was the manager at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Dunlap for almost 20 years, until his health required his early retirement. He was a member of Life Tabernacle Church since 2001 and enjoyed studying and sharing the Scriptures. He was an avid fisherman and liked to spend time with his family by taking them fishing.
Mr. Quirk was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed country and gospel music, and watching "COPS" on television.
