Obituary

ELKHART — Bryan C. Akers McNeal, 35, of Elkhart, passed away following an extended illness at 6:02 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Aug. 30, 1980, in Elkhart, to Bryan K. Akers of Washington and Kathleen "Kathie" (Terri) Eakins McNeal of Elkhart.

Also surviving are his sisters, Susan (Jason) deFerbrache of Elkhart and Brianna (Melissa) Greene of Mishawaka; nieces Anastasia, Jillian and Joni; and nephew Richey deFerbrache; and grandparents Bill and Shirley McNeal and Shirley Akers, all of Elkhart.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Mary and Ray Eakins.

A memorial celebration of Bryan's life will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Kane Lodge 183, F.& A.M, 931 Industrial Parkway, Elkhart, followed by a gatherings of friends and family at his residence. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with the arrangements.

Bryan had received degrees in several fields including business management, accounting and marketing, and was working on a fourth at Ivy Tech in computer science. He loved spending time with his nieces and volunteered as their troop leader at Roosevelt School's Girl Scout Troop 10827. Always positive and upbeat even in the darkest of times, Bryan had a unique ability to light up any room with his quick wit, dry sense of humor, infectious smile and contagious laugh. He was not happy unless he was giving of himself.
