Obituary

Bruce L. Yeater, 90, of Elkhart passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at his residence. He was born on August 26, 1934 to the late Marion and Nondas (Gardner) Yeater.

Bruce was lighthearted, and loved to laugh. He deeply loved all his children, as well as family, and would do anything for any of them. Bruce knew no stranger. He'd go out of his way to help others. If you'd ever need any kind of help, he'd be right there. He was also an extremely hard worker. From helping his brother Bob at his bar making delicious food, to being an EMT, to window washing, and beyond. He was truly a jack of all trades.

Bruce was a senior halfback (#34) for the Elkhart High School Blue Blazers. He always loved talking about his High School football days and showing off his impressive touchdown skills that got him in the newspaper. He was always super proud of that. Naturally, Football games were a favorite for Bruce to watch in his down time. Shortly after graduation, he served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean war. He was stationed on the 39th Parallel. After serving abroad for 14 months, while returning back home on a ship, Bruce met a Sargent. The Sargent gave him a pamphlet inviting him to a talk at the kingdom hall for Jehovah's Witnesses. He went and listened, and from that moment forward, he knew the Truth was for him. Bruce was then baptized in 1956, and was a faithful, dedicated witness up until his death 69 years later. He loved reading his Bible daily, learning the teachings, and his love for his God Jehovah grew every day.

Bruce met his wife Helena (Brechno) in 1985, at the Kingdom Hall. In October of this year, they celebrated their 39-year anniversary. Together, they enjoyed attending meetings, going out in service, and being with friends and family.

Bruce is survived by his wife Helena (Brechno) Yeater, along with their daughter they had together, Kimberly Yeater (Elkhart) and two stepchildren, Theresa Nagy (NC), and Alex Maverick. From his former marriage, he's survived by his children, Kirby Yeater (AZ), Valerie (Nelson) Tsosie (AZ), Mike (Lisa) Yeater (AL), and Bradley Yeater (IN), grandchildren, Zoe, Kane, Kole, Major, and Judge, his siblings, Nora (Mike) Irving, Vera Sonner, Richard (Lynn) Yeater, and John (Linda) Yeater. He's proceeded in death by his beloved siblings, Marion "Moe" Yeater, Otto "Jack" Yeater, Ernest "Ernie" Yeater, Don Yeater, Robert "Bob" Yeater, Barbara (Yeater) Barber and his parents.

Bruce will forever be in our hearts, until we see each other again.  Rev. 21:4
