Obituary
ELKHART -- Bruce P. Carlson, residing in Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 6, 2011, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born on Nov. 10, 1939, in South Bend to the late Richard N. and Frances (Yarnell) Carlson.
On Feb. 17, 1969, he married Trudy A. Collins in South Bend. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Trudy A. Carlson of Elkhart; sons, Jeffrey W. Carlson (serving in the USMC) of Joshua Tree, Calif. and Norman S. (Sheila) Carlson of Columbia, Mo.; daughters, Maria E. Carlson of Elkhart, Jennifer A. Carlson of South Bend and Yvonne (George) Berlakovich of Delta, Ohio; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Norman (Sherrill Defay) Cromwell of Fort Wayne and Richard L. (Lorraine) Carlson of South Bend.
Bruce was retired. He enjoyed working part-time at the Shell station at Cassopolis and Bristol Street. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963. He was a member of the Osceola American Legion Post 308.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the direction of Veterans Funeral Care at Billings Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 C.R. 19, Bristol, IN 46507
