Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear coworker and friend, Brian Keith "Sailboat Brian" (aka "Dr. Crash") McCrary. Brian fought a courageous battle against cancer, displaying unwavering strength and resilience throughout his journey. He passed away in the comfort of his own home on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:26 pm. He was 57.

Born in Princeton, Indiana on July 13, 1966, Brian was the son of the late Barney and Nancy (Robinson) McCrary. He is survived by his brothers Michael Shafer of Petersburg, Indiana and Travis McCrary of Oakland City, Indiana; his sister Pam (Gary) Wiscaver of Chandler, Indiana, and his lovely nieces, Lilly, Lacey and Brittany. He is also survived by a loving host of extended family, good friends and his close-knit family down at Future Solutions RV Supply in Elkhart, which supplies solar and lithium battery power for RVs. Brian also had some prior talent in graphic design and image printing.

Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart will host Brian's services, scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am followed by a celebration of Brian's life at 12 noon. Burial will follow services on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Blackfoot Cemetery near Spurgeon, Indiana, in Pike County, at 10:00 am EST/9 am CST. (Local)

Brian was an exceptional individual, known for his strong work ethic and unique life experiences. He approached every task with enthusiasm and determination, setting a remarkable example for all of us. His commitment and professionalism were truly inspiring, and his contributions to the Future Solutions team will forever be cherished.

Beyond his professional achievements, Brian had an incredible zest for life as a skilled adventurer, sailor and outdoorsman. He had a story for every occasion, and his tales never failed to captivate us. Whether it was recounting his adventures from his latest camping, sailing, or hiking trip, or sharing his unique perspectives on life, Brian had a remarkable ability to leave us laughing and inspired.

But perhaps what made Brian truly special was his ability to connect with others. He had an infectious charm and an uncanny knack for making friends with everyone he met. Brian's warm smile and genuine interest in others made him a beloved figure in our workplace and beyond. He had a way of making people feel valued and appreciated, and his presence brightened even the darkest of days.

As we reflect on the memories we shared with Brian, it is abundantly clear that his absence leaves a void that will be impossible to fill. We will miss his infectious laughter, his words of wisdom, and his unwavering support. Brian was more than just a friend and a coworker; he was a true friend who touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In this time of grief, let us honor his memory by embracing the values he embodied: hard work, kindness, and a zest for life – get outside and explore!

Rest in peace, dear Brian. May your camping trips be filled with starry nights, your sails catch the wind, and your hikes take you to the most breathtaking vistas. Your light will continue to shine brightly through the memories we hold dear. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
