CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — Brenda Kay Pontius, 55, of Cassopolis, passed away at home with her family by her side after an extended illness at 9:32 a.m. Thursday (June 28, 2012).
She was born on Feb. 21, 1957, in Elkhart, Ind., to Paul E. and Norma "Jane" (Bowyer) Baker. She married Kevin A. Pontius on Feb. 7, 1992, in Cassopolis.
Surviving are her husband; sons Benjamin "Ben" (Lori Carson) Wright of Edwardsburg and Dustin E. Wright of Michigan; daughter Danielle L. Wright of Cassopolis; brother Jeff A. (Theresa) Baker of Elkhart; sisters Lisa A. (Rick) McAllister and Deborah S. "Deb" (Ron) Desimone, both of Elkhart; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jacob Wright.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the celebration of Brenda's life at 1 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate. Burial will follow at Long Cemetery in Porter Township.
Brenda was an avid outdoors enthusiast who managed a lawn and landscaping business called Lucky 13 Lawncare with her husband, Kevin, for more than 21 years. Along with mowing, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing and spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was traveling around the Great Lakes visiting area lighthouses with Kevin.
