ELKHART -- Brenda Joyce Johnson, 48, of Elkhart, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday (July 26, 2008) in Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born Jan. 9, 1960, in Frankfort, Ky., to Jackie and Brenda (Duff) Hilson.

Survivors include her parents of Elkhart; three sisters, Barbara (Tony) Coleman, Ruby Duff and Jacqueline Hilson, all of Elkhart; and three brothers, Michael (Angie) Hilson of Syracuse, Tony (Sandy) Hilson of Tampa, Fla., and Julius Hilson of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Claude and Ruby Duff and Louise Johnson.

Ms. Johnson was a graduate of Elkhart Central High School and received an associate's degree in accounting from Ivy Tech.

She was a member of the North West Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed reading, traveling, knitting and spending time with her family.

A private visitation has taken place at the Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the North West Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1410 Waurika St. Victor Mikev will officiate.

Cremation has taken place.
