Bobby Jay Wise, 63, of Elkhart, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 3, 2017, at his home after an extended illness.

Bob was born May 25, 1954, in South Bend, and was raised by the late Eugene and Vida (Cummins) Spitzer.

His brother, Michael Boyd Wise, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Retha, four sisters, Deb May, Cindy Smith, Melody Wise, Becky (Jim) Silvernail and several nieces and nephews.

Bob worked for many companies over the years including Godfrey and LaSalle Deitch, along with other skilled jobs.

He was best known as an easy going, social and fun guy.

He was a great brother, who loved music, especially classic rock, classic cars and playing his guitar.

He could name the songs, who wrote them, who played and in which rock band.

Bob was a Christian man and always ready to give a helping hand to his family or friends.

He enjoyed taking care of his home and gardening.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and was intrigued by military aircraft.

Bob was honored to work on the flight deck of the USS Kitty Hawk.

Friends, family and others whose lives Bob touched are invited to Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart, from 5 to 7 p.m.  Friday, Nov. 10, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, listen to classic rock and share memories and stories of Bob.

Military honors by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard will conclude the evening with the folding and presentation of the flag and playing of TAPS.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Please no flowers, consider donations to Bob's family to help with expenses.
