Billy Ray Rumbaugh, 80, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022 at his home.
Billy was born on October 6, 1942 to the late William Ray Rumbaugh and Audrey (Hudgins) Rumbaugh in Collinwood, TN. He was married to Patricia (Hayes) Rumbaugh. She passed away on May 4, 2018.
Billy is also preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry, Benny, Freddy and Ronnie Rumbaugh and sisters, Debbie Olive and Elaine Bogle, all of Tennessee.
Billy is survived by his children, William (Brandy) Rumbaugh; Shannon Rumbaugh and Ben Rumbaugh; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Billy honorable served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was proud of his service even so far as re-enlisting a second time. Billy was a hard worker, owning a car lot in Tennessee and building trailers. He was employed at Miller Structures in Elkhart for many years as a carpenter.
He was a skilled acoustic guitar player and left it a secret to "those" that knew him. Billy enjoyed working on cars and his house. Billy could be found on the water, fishing in the summertime. He was friendly and enjoyed people.
Most of all, he adored his grandchildren and will be forever remembered as "Paw Paw".
A Funeral Service with Military honors will be held at 12:00 pm noon on Friday, December 30, 2022 with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating.
A visitation for Billy will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm prior to the start of the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Olive East Cemetery.
