Billy L. Newman Jr., 69, formerly of Three Rivers, MI, passed away with his wife by his side on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Center for Hospice Care, Esther House.

Billy was born on July 9, 1955 in Three Rivers, MI to the late, Bill and Eleanor Lucille (King) Newman.

Billy was married to the love of his life, Millie (Hughes) Newman on March 3, 2007 at True Vine Tabernacle Church in Elkhart, IN. They were married for 18 wonderful years. She survives as well as his daughters, Anna N. Newman and Tessa N. Newman; stepdaughter, Christie Newman; half-brother, Milton Newman; sister, Romayne Dee Dray and half-sister, Paula Nobel; uncle, Fred Newman; and his faithful canine companions, Rosy and Lucy.

Billy graduated from Mendon High School in 1973 where he was on the school's football team and played Trombone in their marching band. From an early age, Billy took care of his grandmother. He was a clamp truck driver at various warehouses in the area, retiring from Lami-Plast after 19 years of service. It was here that he formed a network of close work friends that he called family. Billy and Millie were faithful members at True Vine Tabernacle Church in Elkhart.

He had a servant's heart and loved to help the less fortunate. Billy made sure things were taken care of and he would go above and beyond what was called to do.

A funeral service for Billy will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Rev. Nancy Lora of True Vine Tabernacle Church officiating. A visitation will take place at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. the same day prior to the start of the service.

Burial will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers, MI.
