ELKHART-Billy Byrl Coleman, 78, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 at his home.
Billy was born on September 5, 1942 in Lawrenceville, Illinois to Henry and Helen (Stivers) Coleman. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; his parents, Henry and Helen; his son, Billy Joe; and sister Lynn Coleman.
Billy is survived by his son, Andy (Kendra) Coleman, of Mishawaka; grandchildren, DarcyJoyce, Ruby Ann, Nolan and Aly "Chucky", sister, Maria Coleman of VA and brother, Robert Coleman of IL.
Billy honorably served his country as a Specialist E-5 quartermaster Corps in the US Army for 6 years during the Vietnam War and Cold War. Billy served in France and Germany during his time in the Army. He was stationed in Ft. Leonard in Wood, MO. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Freedom Medal and Vietnam Star Medal/ Bronze Service Medal during his service. Billy was a member of VFW Post 985 in Goshen.
Billy was also a press operator with CTS and Kevco in Elkhart. He enjoyed crocheting, fishing and word search. Billy especially loved playing the "Powerball" and the lottery whenever he could.
Per Billy's wishes, burial of cremains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
