ELKHART — Billie L. Gipson, 76, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart.
She was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to Norman and Sylvia (Tebo) Priddy.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, William C. "Bill" Gipson of Elkhart; three sons, Jim "Hippie" Gipson of Elkhart, Mark Gipson of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Kevin (Jessie) Gipson of Hillsboro, Ky.; two brothers, Max (Carolyn) Priddy of Van Wert, Ohio, and Gary (Teressa) Priddy of Florida; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Billie worked as a clerk at Mills Grocery in Union, Mich., for nearly 15 years and also served as a volunteer at the YMCA Senior Center for 12 years.
She and her husband attended Hillcrest United Methodist Church. Billie was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling often.
The family will receive friends from noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, at Billings Funeral Home. Chaplain Andy Williams of DAV chapter 19 will officiate. Entombment will follow in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the DAV chapter 19 Color Guard in memory of Billie.
