STURGIS, Mich., — Mrs. Beverly S. (Sweat) Peoples, 64, of Sturgis, formerly of Bristol, passed away peacefully following an extended battle with liver disease at Heartland Health Center in Three Rivers, Michigan on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 at 7:15 a.m.
Beverly was born Oct. 11, 1952 in Elkhart to the late James and Lilly (Detwiler) Sweat, and went on to marry Louis J. Peoples on Apr. 28, 2002 in Constantine, Michigan. He passed away in 2015 as well as her father James and her mother in 2016.
Surviving is a daughter, Dixie (Jerry) Bills of Mottville, Michigan and son Michael (Rhonda) McPherson, Jr. of Elkhart; grandchildren Dylan Coffman of Bremen and Cassondra McPherson of Elkhart; brother James (Karla) Sweat, Jr. of Constantine; sisters Donna (Walt) Grimes of LaGrange and Julia (Jerry) DeWitt of Sturgis; niece Brenda (Tim) Smeltzer of Middlebury; nephews Tom (Theresa) Ethell of Shipshewana, Doug (Deb) Fireline of Howe, James (Charla) Sweat, III of Grand Rapids, and Josh (Rachel) Sweat of Kingsley, Michigan.
An extended step-family survives as well including step-daughters Bonnie (Ron) Thiele of Elkhart and Kelly (Jerry) Cross of Georgia; step-sons James (Mary) Peoples of Dallas, North Carolina and Cliff (Dawn) Peoples of Dowagiac, Michigan. A host of step-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews survive as well.
In accordance with Beverly's wishes, cremation has taken place and no immediate public services have been scheduled.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.
Beverly was the consummate flea market "aficionado", and loved to find things to sell at her sales. She also enjoyed doing crafts, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Beverly S. Peoples Memorial Fund c/o her daughter, Dixie.
