Aug. 16, 1927 - July 9, 2010

ELKHART -- Betty Lue Wise, 82, of Elkhart, passed away at 8:27 p.m. on Friday (July 9, 2010) at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1927, in Terre Haute to Willis H. and Clara (Montgomery) Lee. She was a 1944 graduate of Garfield High School in Terre Haute. On Sept. 6, 1944, she married Harold D. Wise and he survives.

Other survivors include her two sons, Larry D. (Rosalee) Wise of Elkhart and Travis L. (Paula) Wise of Portage; daughter Teri L. (Roy Sr.) King of Goshen; sister Donna Pfaller of South Bend; and two grandchildren, Nathaniel P. and Hannah E. Wise, both of Portage.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar R. and Harold E. Lee, and sister Mary Clark.

Betty had worked as a bookkeeper for several floral shops and as an office manager for the W.T. Grant Co. for several years. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Goshen. She enjoyed reading and spending time crocheting.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 2 p.m. Tuesday memorial service held at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. The Rev. Brian Cray will officiate.

Her cremated remains will be buried at Prairie Street Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Salvation Army.
