Betty Joyce Westlake, 77, of White Pigeon, MI passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Betty was born on September 30, 1944 to the late Samuel and Mattie Amelia "Toots" (Landrum) Southerland. Betty is married to John S. Westlake.

Betty is preceded in death by her previous husbands, Clifford Newland, Billy Henley and brother, James "Orwin" Southerland.

Betty is survived by her husband of 24 years, John Westlake of White Pigeon, MI; children, David (Brenda) Henley of Osceola, IN and Amelia "Lynn" (Michael) Columbus of Granger, IN; her sisters, Paulette Ghee (Denny Rittenhouse) of Lancaster, PA and Juanita Koontz of Elkhart, IN; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Betty graduated from Mishawaka High School. She was a member at Bristol United Methodist Church and was strong in her faith.  Betty enjoyed music especially writing songs, playing the piano and singing. Betty was cheerful and enjoyed a good laugh. She was a silent but strong woman

A Funeral Service for Betty will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Rev. Gary Lewis of Bristol United Methodist Church officiating.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Burial and graveside service will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, 401 W. Hively Avenue in Elkhart.
