Betty Ann Pettis, 75, of Elkhart, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on March 21, 1949, to the late Mack and Louise (Dent) Pettis.

Betty is also preceded in death by her siblings, Cora Pettis and Samuel Pettis. She is survived by  her siblings, Dorothy Timmons and Oliver (Esther) Pettis Sr.; nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.

In accordance with Betty's wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart, IN. A private family service will take place at a later date.

Betty was an independent woman who was loved by everyone who met her. Those who knew her would say that she was kind and friendly with the best smile. Betty loved to laugh and when she laughed, you couldn't help but join her.

Her loving brother, Oliver Sr., and sister-in-law, Esther, took care of her for some time after she moved to Elkhart from Wyatt, Missouri.  Betty later settled in at Valley View for a time and made friends with everyone on the staff. It did not take long for her to become fast friends with the many residents who lived there as well. Betty will be dearly missed by her loving family, many friends, and by all those who were impacted by her kind and loving heart.
