ELKHART -- Betty J. Ethell, 82, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 8, 2010) at 3 a.m. at the Beardsley House in Elkhart.

She was born on Feb. 1, 1928, in Three Oaks, Mich., to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Swedenberg) Schroeder. She married Delmar R. Ethell on March 3, 1949. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are a sister, Jean E. Swinehart; a niece, Kathy Hatfield; and a nephew, Ron (Linda) Swinehart; all of Elkhart. Also surviving are several great- and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as several in-laws.

She was an employee with CTS for more than 42 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She belonged to the local Elks, Eagles and Moose lodges, where she enjoyed playing cards. She and her late husband wintered in Seabring, Fla., for 22 years.

Mrs. Ethell is to be cremated in accordance with her wishes. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is handling arrangements .

Memorials may be given to the Beardsley House of Elkhart or to Harbor Lights Hospice.
