ELKHART — On a sunny October afternoon, with a beautiful breeze coming through the window, Bessie E. Warner, a resident of Brentwood Senior Living Community, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, with her family by her side and woke up in heaven.
She was 92.
Bessie was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Argos, to John Mars and Edith E. (Graham) Vandermark.
Bessie is survived by her son, Charles F. (Linda) Warner; three grandchildren, Nathan (Jessica) Warner, Amanda Warner, Matthew (Valarie) Sukolics; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Lucas Sukolics; sister Edith (Dwain) Sims and best friends, Charles and Patricia Warner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Thomas, John and Paul Vandermark, husband Louis Bueter, infant son David Warner; and her two favorite uncles, Charles Vandermark Sr., and Leslie Graham.
Bessie worked at the Kingsbury (Ind.) Ordinance Plant during World War II.
She formerly worked at Dobbins Manufacturing Co. and Taylor Products.
Bessie loved to garden and was an avid animal lover.
Bessie always saw the world in such a beautiful light.
Pink was her favorite color in the world and the family kindly request anyone coming to her service to wear something pink in her memory.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the noon celebration of life service Thursday, Oct. 20, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart.
Elkhart Police Department Chaplain Marti Cerda will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
