Beryl June Nord, 94, of Elkhart passed away peacefully on Thursday December 22, 2022 at Greenleaf Health Campus, Elkhart, Indiana. Beryl was born on February 13, 1928 in Sturgis, Michigan to the late Dayton and Marjorie (Winklepleck) Prestidge. In addition to her parents, her first husband E.C. Anderson (father of the children) passed July 10,1976. Beryl is survived by her children Cathy Chai, Dane Anderson, Elane Purdy and Sue Barber.
Beryl was united in marriage to Allen E. "Squeek" Nord on April 12, 1999. She is survived by her beloved husband, as well as his children Linda (John) Tunks, Brenda (Bob) Sage and Brad (Tina) Nord. Beryl was blessed with twenty-one grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Beryl is also survived by her brother Larry Prestidge and sister, Sandra Pfenning. Beryl was preceded in death by her sister Juanita Thrasher and sister-in law Carmen Prestidge as well as two grandsons Joshua Purdy and Allen Chai, and two son-in-laws, Joe Purdy and Steve Barber.
Beryl was a 1945 graduate of Sturgis (Mi) High School and had a heart for Jesus all of her life. From a very young age, she would run from one church service to another on Sundays to hear the message of Jesus Christ. As a young married homemaker, Beryl continued her calling as she ministered to many children by inviting them into her home each week for "Good News Club." Later in life, Beryl and Allen enjoyed serving others as active members of the Hillcrest United Methodist Church.
Allen and Beryl enjoyed the fellowship of friends through their membership at the Elkhart Moose Lodge, as well as the Elkhart Vintage Auto Club. They also enjoyed many years of traveling, while thoroughally enjoying all the blessings of life and love. A celebration of life service for Beryl will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 E. Bristol Street, Elkhart. Pastor Tracy Rose-Love to officiate.
Per Beryl's wishes, creamation will take place under the care of Billings Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date at the Brighton Cemetary, near Howe Indiana.
