ELKHART -- Bartlett G. Beckett Jr., 78, of Elkhart, died at 4:45 a.m. Friday (Jan. 16, 2009) in Hubbard Hill Estates.

He was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Elkhart County to Bartlett G. Sr. and Wilma (Fisher) Beckett.

Mr. Beckett is survived by his close friend and caregiver, Merle B. Holdeman of Bristol, his church friends and several cousins.

He was a farmer, wallpaper hanger and decorator. A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mr. Beckett enjoyed doing crafts and being keeping up with current events.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Karen Strietelmeier of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Private burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Bristol.
