ELKHART — Barbara Lee Johnson, 69, of Elkhart, passed away Monday evening, March 9, at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Feb. 12, 1946, in Rainelle, W.Va., to Edward and Minnie (Mullins) Canfield.
She married James Johnson on July 12, 1963. He died April 4, 2003.
She is survived by her children, William (Lori) Johnson and Angela (Roy) Withrow, both of West Virginia; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Donna (L.C.) McClure of Elkhart; and special sister-in-law Judy Netter of West Virginia.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, son James E. "Jay" Johnson and great-nephew Jayston James Yoder.
Barbara was a homemaker and devout Christian. She formerly worked as a cook at Chelsea Manor Nursing Home. She loved to do puzzles, feed birds and watch tropical fish. She was known for her wonderful biscuits and gravy.
Memorial services celebrating Barbara's life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at World Harvest Church, 1610 S. Nappanee St., Elkhart. Elder Aron Mayberry will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date in Rice Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the family.
