ELKHART — Barbara Anne Meyer Jabs, 76, of Elkhart, passed away at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 7:35 a.m. Sunday, May 18.
She was born Feb. 10, 1938, in Passaic, N.J., to the late Alfred and Anne (Franko) Meyer.
Surviving are her sons, Tim (Kathy) and Russell Jabs, both of Elkhart, and Christopher Jabs of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters Susan (Gary) McKee of Arlington Heights, Ill., Lori (Bryan) Dygert of Bristol and Amy (Tate) Stuntz of Noblesville; her brother, Alfred (Carol) Meyer of North Las Vegas; grandchildren Courtney Lyons-Crawford, Sarah, Nick and Megan McKee, Christian and Calvin Jabs, Hannah, Bradley and Haley Dygert, Emily and Julia Stuntz; and great-grandson Jaymeson Crawford. Also surviving is her former spouse, Richard Jabs, of Elkhart.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart, followed by a funeral service there at 8 p.m. Sister Nora Frost will officiate and, in accordance with the family's wishes, cremation will follow the services.
Barbara worked in the classified advertising department at The Elkhart Truth for over 30 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as being a prolific reader, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
