Obituary
ELKHART — Audrey D. Merrick, 84, a lifelong resident of Elkhart, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 12, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
She was born Aug. 22, 1931, to the late Grover C. and Nellie (Boyer) Miller.
She married Forrest E. Merrick Jr. on Nov. 23, 1951. Forrest died June 1, 2011.
Surviving are her three sons, Ed (Yvette) Merrick and Dana Merrick, both of Fort Myers, Fla. and Todd (Mary) Merrick of Edwardsburg, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Audrey was the owner of Audrey's Beauty Shop. She started with a shop in her home in 1965 and still had customers 50 years later, retiring in 2015. She was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge, where she enjoyed playing euchre and bingo. Audrey also loved to read and paint. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed.
A celebration of her life will be in the form of an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at her home.
