ELKHART -- Audrey J. Butts, 79, of Elkhart, died at 7:51 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 30, 2009) in her home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Kimball County, Neb., to Donald and Ruth (Ward) Brittain. She married John C. Butts in Reno, Nev. He died Sept. 30, 1989.

Mrs. Butts is survived by one son, Roger (fiancée, Linda Martin) West of Elkhart; two stepsons, Jack (Ruby) Butts of Elkhart and Don Butts of Three Rivers, Mich.; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Ruth) Brittain of San Marcos, Texas; and two sisters, Virginia Bernadou of Elkhart and Lorraine Slemp of Greeley, Colo.

Mrs. Butts retired from Bayer Corp. (Miles) after more than 30 years of service, and was a member and one of the founders of Calvary Assembly of God Church, Elkhart. She enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to Monday's 10 a.m. funeral service at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1010 E. Mishawaka Road, Elkhart. Pastor Brian Whidden will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Osceola.
