ELKHART — Aurthur "Art" Dawkins, 55, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, March, 21, 2018.

He was born, in Chicago, May 15, 1962, to the late Fred and Maimie (Goshay) Dawkins, and is survived by former spouse and mother of the children, Chrissandra Moore.

Also surviving are children LaVar (Shanna Bratcher) and Arthesia (Lafaun Davenport) Moore; grandchildren Raven, Reakwon, Tyrecesha and Symona Moore.

Siblings James, Diane and Dorothy Dawkins. Kate, Lynn and Fred Dawkins Jr. preceded him in death.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

A celebration of Art's life will take place at a later date.

Art and his brother worked many years together in the construction business.

He also loved to cook and enjoyed doing so as a volunteer at the Faith Mission, where memorial donations can go in Art's memory.
