ELKHART -- Arthur Mickey "Art" Fierce, 80, of Elkhart, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 9, 2010, at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Nov. 20, 1929, in LaPorte City, Iowa, to the late Arthur L. and Ida (Mickey) Fierce. On Feb. 11, 1956, in Waterloo, Iowa, he married Barbara B. Boysen.
She survives along with daughter Leslie A. Fierce of Indiana and son James M. Fierce of Los Angeles.
Art was the audit manager at Bayer Corp., retiring in 1992. He received his bachelor's degree from Notre Dame and his MBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. It was while attending U of M that he met and later married Barbara. They shared 54 years together.
Art was an avid golfer and a member of the Elkhart Elks Club 425 and Christiana Creek Country Club. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
In keeping with Art's wishes, private family time was held and cremation will take place, with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
