UNION, Mich. -- Arlene S. Zuchowski-Dempsey, loving mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend, went to heaven at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, while at home with her children by her side.
Arlene is survived by her children: son Mark (Laura) Zuchowski, daughters Lisa (Jim) Morgan, Lynn (Mike) Stanyard and Melanie (Mark) Rockrohr; and grandchildren Ross, Anna, Morgan, Lexi, Jacob, Mitchell, Max and Maya. Also surviving are children shared with her late husband, Louis R. Dempsey: son James (Patricia) Dempsey, daughters Mary (Jim) Nagy, Janet (Greg) Lauer, Kathy (Bernie) Blanda and Laurie Dempsey; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Whether you were family or a stranger, you didn't have to be around Mom for more than five minutes before you would feel her spirit, her spunk and her heart. She was someone who never turned anyone away and gave her heart to everyone. She would drop whatever she was doing and was never too busy to help someone in need. That is who she was. She was always there and will be missed beyond words.
Please join family and friends to celebrate her life with a memorial Mass beginning at noon Monday, June 27, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 U.S. Hwy. 12, Edwardsburg. Father Joe McCormick will officiate. All are invited for a meal afterward in the church hall, where a video, sharing of memories and stories will follow immediately after the Mass.
In the spirit of Mom's giving heart, one of her last gifts was to donate her body to the University of Michigan Medical School for research.
Memorials may be given to Cass County Council on Aging, P.O. Box 5, Cassopolis, MI 49031; or give the gift of life by donating blood to your local American Red Cross blood drive.
