ELKHART — Argelee Chaffin, 86, of Elkhart, formerly of Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 1, at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her daughter, Rheba, at her side.
She was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Coeburn, Va. to James C. and Arlie (Collins) Moore.
She married Chester William Chaffin on Oct. 1, 1948, in Harlan, Ky. He passed June 28, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter Rheba D. Cobane of Elkhart; a son, Chester W. Chaffin Jr. of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding Argelee in death were a son, Richard Alan Chaffin; sisters Viola Lawson, Maggie Collins and Odra Huff; and brothers, Emmett, Trent and Lawrence Moore and Glen Sexton.
Mrs. Chaffin was a homemaker and nanny. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. Services celebrating her life will be Friday, March 7, 2014 at Moore Family Funeral Home in Batavia, Ohio. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Local arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home.
