ELKHART -- Antony Dercach, 70, of 1001 W. Hively Ave., died at 4:05 a.m. Friday (June 20, 2008) at Golden Living Center.
He was born April 26, 1938, in Ukraine to Ivan and Maria Dercach. He later married Nerva Louis McClure, who died in 1973.
Mr. Dercach is survived by one daughter, Louise "Marie" (Kevin) Brewer of Cassopolis, Mich.; a stepson, Terry (Elise) Nonnemacher of Goshen; a stepdaughter, Linda (Gene) Taber of Elkhart; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Vacilio "V.C." Dercach of Elkhart and Nicholas and Alexander Dercach, both of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Valentina Sukow of Elkhart; and Caludia Dercach of Venezuela.
Mr. Dercach moved to the United States at age 18, shortly after World War II. He worked as a furniture builder at Kender Furniture Manufacturers for more than 17 years and worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Indiana State Highway Department for 13 years.
He was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church in Goshen.
There will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation will take place, and burial will be at a later date in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart. Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
