ELKHART -- Anna Mae Shurgott, 82, of Elkhart, died at 7:10 a.m. Friday (Jan. 30, 2009) at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Dec. 4, 1926 to James Henry Moser and Garnet A. Richards in Tarentum, Pa. On August 23, 1949 she married Paul Leslie "Les" Shurgott.
He survives, along with one son, Gary L. Shurgott of Elkhart; one daughter, Paula L. (George) Winters of Elkhart; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a step-sister, Naomi Biggs; and a granddaughter, Amy Winters.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Elkhart Church of Christ, C.R. 12, Elkhart. Pastor Barry Edds of the White Pigeon Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow services at Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Shurgott worked at the Elkhart Rubber Company as an office clerk for over 10 years, retiring in the late 70's. She took great pride in her family and home and enjoyed quilting and cooking, especially around Christmas time. She was a member of the Elkhart Church of Christ and was very involved with church activities including preparing the Sacrament of Holy communion for the congregation. She had received an Associate's Degree from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn. and was an avid Pittsburgh Panthers fan.
Memorials may be given to Elkhart Faith Mission of the Elkhart Women's Shelter.
