Obituary

Ms. Anna Marie Greenwalt of Bristol, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home following an extended illness on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:26 p.m., surrounded by the love that defined her life.

Anna was born on September 2, 1943, in Clinton, Iowa, to the late Anton B. and Gladys V. (Williams) Milder. On December 9, 1962, she married the love of her life, Curtis E. “Curt” Greenwalt, in Clinton. Their union was one of enduring devotion, lasting nearly 58 beautiful years until Curt’s passing in 2021. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and shared joys.

Above all else, Anna was a woman devoted to her family. She was the quintessential wife, mother, and grandmother—steadfast, nurturing, and endlessly giving. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and order, where every detail reflected her care and pride. She found her greatest fulfillment in caring for those she loved, always placing their needs above her own.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curt; her children, Michael and Elizabeth “Bethy” Greenwalt; her brothers, Kenny, Bob, and Tony Milder; and her sisters, Luella Carter and Doris Milder. Though she endured profound loss in her lifetime, her strength and love never wavered.

Anna’s legacy lives on through her loving daughters, Sherri A. (Brian) Jackson of Elkhart and Julie K. Greenwalt of Bristol, who carry forward her values of kindness, resilience, and devotion to family. She will be dearly missed by her cherished grandchildren—Brittany Willis of Orrville, Ohio, Spencer Conn and Crystal Conn, both of Bristol—as well as her five great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her sister, Carol (John) Marshall of Springfield, Ohio; her best friend of 40 years, Brenda Sellers; and a wide circle of extended family members, neighbors, and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

Anna found happiness in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She had a special love for animals and delighted in feeding the deer, birds, squirrels, and turkeys that gathered faithfully in her backyard each day. An excellent cook, she had a gift for making every meal memorable—her family will forever cherish the comfort and love served at her table.

She and Curt shared a passion for classic cars, enjoying time spent collecting and showing them together. Among their most treasured was a 1979 Ford Mustang Pace Car, a symbol of the many memories they created side by side. Anna also loved outings with her children—shopping trips, a visit to McDonald’s or Dairy Queen, or simply enjoying a chocolate milkshake from Culver’s—moments that became lasting traditions filled with laughter and love.

A woman of faith, Anna was a devoted member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bristol, where she found spiritual comfort and community. She was also known for her keen sense of organization and practical wisdom, particularly in financial matters—qualities that reflected her thoughtful and steady nature.

In the quiet of her evenings, Anna found simple joy in watching Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, a routine that brought her comfort and familiarity at the close of each day.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place. A family-directed memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20943 County Road 6, Bristol, Indiana, with Pastor Karen Strietelmeier officiating. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11 am and a luncheon will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catsnip Etc., a humane feral cat care organization at 21060 US20, Goshen, IN 46528.

Anna Marie Greenwalt will be remembered for her unwavering love, her gentle strength, and the deep devotion she gave so freely to her family. Her life was a testament to the quiet, enduring power of love, and her memory will forever be held close in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
