ELKHART -- Angeline "Lena" Bibbo, 96, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday evening, June 26, 2011, at Valley View Health Care Center.
She was born July 2, 1914, in Chicago to the late Nicholas and Josephine (Cinelli) Bibbo. Lena was never married but was like a second mother to her nieces, Mary Jo (Jim) Kiefer, Linda (Paul) Wilson and Jan Rach, and nephews George (Sandy) Fortino, Bob (Linda) Herrick, Ron (Cindy) Fumarolo, Greg (Amy) Funarolo and Tom (Judy) Brenneman. Several great-nieces and -nephews survive, as well.
Lena was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Bibbo; sisters Rose Fumarolo, Jean Herrick, Mary Fortino and Frances Brenneman; nephew Nick Fortino; and a niece, Karen Parrott.
Lena retired from CTS in 1976 after 41 years of service, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a 1933 graduate of Elkhart High School and a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella. She also volunteered for many years at Cheery Corner at Elkhart General Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for family and friends.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, where a parish vigil service will be prayed beginning at 5:45 p.m. Friends may also call for a half-hour prior to the 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rev. Bill Sullivan will officiate, with graveside services and burial to follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
