Obituary

Andrew J. "Andy" Hobik, 49, of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born on September 6, 1972, in Chicago, IL to Donald E. and Jeanne S. (Kraft) Hobik, who survive him.

Andy is also survived by his daughters, Evan Leigh, Anna Lillian, and Caroline Frances; sister, Kathleen (Chad) Horne; and multiple nieces and nephews as well as grand nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel E. Hobik.

Andy moved to Elkhart with his family when he was 5 months old.

He attended St Thomas the Apostle Elementary school, where he excelled in academics and sports, playing basketball, football, and baseball.

Andy graduated from Mishawaka Marian High School with honors in all his academics and a passion and talent for any sports that he played. He found his true talent in basketball and baseball when he played for Kalamazoo College, where he would later graduate with a bachelor's degree in Economics. Andy was an active member at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and became a volunteer coach for the St. Thomas School's boys' basketball team.

After college, Andy began his love of sales at Welch Packaging.

Later, he transitioned into pharmaceutical sales, ultimately bringing his talents to the medical supply field for Baxter. During his sales career he also conducted seminars and instructed multiple medical personnel, receiving many accolades in excellence.

Andy was a passionate father to his three daughters, whom he loved and cherished, and always supported in any activity they pursued. He was a genuine man who had a good sense of humor and a kind heart. His love of sports continued throughout his life as he would become an avid golfer and tennis player. Andy was an outstanding cook and enjoyed preparing dinners for his family and friends.

Andy enjoyed watching movies with his family and had a love of 80's and 90's music.  He shared his love of music with his girls, often enjoying impromptu sing-a-longs while riding in the car.

The family wants to thank all of the staff at Elkhart General Hospital, IU University Hospital, Golden Living Center (Elkhart) and Heart to Heart Hospice for the kindness and care extended to Andy over the past 8 months.
