He was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Greenwood, Miss., to Clinton and Betsy (Sweetman) Rembert. He married Imagene D. Hilliard on Nov. 26, 1950, in Elkhart.
She survives along with four daughters, Debra Rembert, Rhonda (David) Freeman and Rita Taylor-Mallard, all of Elkhart, and Anita Rembert of Miller Beach; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Rembert; one brother, Albert Rembert; and two sisters, Ada Square and Winnie Pollard.
Friends may call one hour before Saturday's 1 p.m. funeral service at Canaan Baptist Church, 933 Fieldhouse Ave. The Rev. Theodis Hadley will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.
Mr. Rembert retired from Atlantis Plastics after 42 years of service. He was an avid golfer and bowler who belonged to the Par-Putters Golf Club. He was a former president of the Elkhart Men's Bowling Association. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church and Elkhart Black Expo. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.
