He was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Ora and Mattie (Yoder) Troyer Sr. He married Florence Willard Lowell on Jan. 16, 1971, in Elkhart. She died in December 2007.
Mr. Troyer is survived by two sons, Dale D. (Janet) Troyer of Goshen and Steven L. Troyer of South Bend; one stepdaughter, Sandra (David) Magnar of Carmel; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Ora "Bud" Troyer Jr. of New Paris; and one sister, Barbara Anderson of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Aaron, Perry "Pete," Rudy and Abe Troyer; and one sister, Clara Mullet.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery on Feb. 16.
Mr. Troyer worked nearly 45 years in the local RV industry as a supervisor, before retiring in 1978. He was an avid fisherman. He attended Goshen Moose Lodge 836. He liked to fix things around the house and spend time with his grandchildren.
