ELKHART — Alva Laura Rodman, 92, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Elkhart County to the late Ansil and Edith M. (Wise) Miller. Alva married William H. Rodman on July 23, 1938, in Goshen. He passed away on April 27, 1984.
Surviving are her children, Jerry Lee (Carolyn) Rodman of Angola, Janice Louise (Wade) Weldy of Elkhart and Florida, and Junior William (Beverly) Rodman, Janett Sue (John) Eads, Jack LeRoy (Diana) Rodman, Juanita Jean (Mark E.) Schumaker and Judy Ann (Howard) Holmes, all of Elkhart. Surviving as well are 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Wava Rodman of Elkhart.
Brothers Leroy and Laurel Miller preceded her in death.
Alva was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She formerly worked at a restaurant at Concord Mall and with Goshen Rubber. She was a faithful member of Grace Brethren Church and had been attending Calvary Assembly of God Church in Elkhart. She enjoyed traveling, Bible study and playing bingo.
Funeral services celebrating Alva's life will begin at noon Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Brian Whidden will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be for two hours prior to the noon Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin, St., Elkhart.
