ELKHART — Allen R. Kidder Sr., 81, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, June 19, in his residence.
He was born April 28, 1933, in Elkhart to Sylvanus and Olga (Eskloson) Kidder.
Survivors include two sons, Allen R. Jr. (Marie) Kidder and Matthew Kidder, both of Elkhart; two brothers, Richard "Bud" (Irene) Kidder of Elkhart and Arthur "Art" Kidder of LaPorte; two sisters, Olga Fuller of South Bend and Nancy McCraken of Argos; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; companion Mary Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara A. Kidder; two brothers, Edgard and Donald Kidder; sister Selma Bowers; stepson Charles VanVorst; and a stepdaughter, Sandra LaClair.
Allen proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He later worked as a tool and die maker at Jessen Manufacturing Company for nearly 19 years, and he later worked as an independent truck driver for more than 20 years prior to his retirement.
Allen enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing.
He was a member of the Goshen Moose Lodge and DAV Chapter 19.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and for an hour prior to the 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, funeral service at Billings Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Graveside military honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Moosehaven in memory of Allen.
