ELKHART — Allen D. "Al" Roberts, 59, of Elkhart, passed away at University Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018.

He was born May 6, 1959, in Elkhart to the late Harold and Josephine (Kapuscinski) Roberts and married Connie White on March 3, 2008, in Hawaii.

She survives at home.

Also surviving are children Peyton, Derek, Jeremy and Allen Roberts II, and James and Joseph Ziegler, and grandson Darren Ziegler. A brother, Gary Roberts, precedes Al in death.

Al worked many years in shipping and receiving at ESI meats and Patrick Industries. He was an avid outdoorsman and naturalist who not only enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping but could identify just about anything that crawled, walked or flew.

A memorial service will take place at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, with visitation beginning at 4 p.m.

Pastor Tim Fisher will officiate.
