Alice Nina Applewhite, 78, of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Waters of Wakarusa (formerly Miller's Merry Manor).

Alice was born on February 14, 1944 in Hamletsburg, IL to the late Lester Wayne Hart and Mary Elizabeth (Thornton) Hart. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Craig Applewhite. He passed away on December 27, 2008.

She is also preceded in death by her son, Steven Wesley.

Alice is survived by her son, Michael Scott (Tina) Hershberger; sisters, Martha Allen and Helen (Jim) Foote; brother, John (Lillian) Hart; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Alice was everyone's "mom".  In her working years, she was a line leader at AeroPak and Kik Inc. Alice enjoyed crafts in her spare time. She had an appreciation for owls and butterflies and admired fast cars.

Alice was a reserved lady and loved helping others, especially when it came to children.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated, and her cremains will be scattered. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.
