Obituary

ELKHART -- Alan Harvey Freeze, 46, of 24885 Buddy St., Elkhart died early Friday (Jan. 12, 2007) at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis after an extended illness.

Mr. Freeze was born Feb. 22, 1960, in Goshen to Ben H. and Mary E. (Pirtle) Freeze. On Dec. 29, 2001, he married Tara I. Quinn in Elkhart.

She survives along with four daughters, April M. Freeze of Meadview, Ariz., Stefanie A. Freeze of Elkhart, Allison C. Freeze of Jimtown and Ashley N. Quinn who lives at home; a son, Jamie A. Freeze of Elkhart; and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are his parents of Elkhart; his birth mother, Belva Belcher of Middlebury; a sister, Tracie Lambert of Shipshewana; and three brothers, Jeff (Betty) Berkey of Goshen, Louis Lambert of Middlebury and Scott (Debbie) Lambert of South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday at Riverview General Baptist Church in Elkhart. The Revs. Bob Wood and Rick Pirtle will officiate. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.

Mr. Freeze worked at Selmer as a clarinet assembler for nearly 18 years. He was an avid NASCAR and Tony Stewart fan. He enjoyed demolition derbies, '57 Chevys and fixing old cars. He also liked auctions, turkey shoots, roller coasters and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Freeze served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested houseplants or memorials to the Riverview General Baptist Church.
