Obituary
BRISTOL — Adrian E. "Gene" Raines Sr., 76, of Bristol, passed away Saturday, May 23, while in his residence.
He was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Middlesboro, Ky., to Presdon and Nancy (Simpson) Raines.
On Sept. 20, 1975, he married Helen F. (Floyd) Raines. She survives at home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Pamela Henderson of Elkhart, Donna (David) Reames of Goshen, Janice (Todd) Lombardi of Vandalia, Mich., and Pamela (Jeff) Kemper of Bradenton, Fla.; four sons, Jeff (Blanche) Peerce of Glendale, Ky., Adie (Gale) Raines of Sonora, Ky., Larry (Joan) Raines of Elkhart and Toby Raines of Sonora; one sister, Cordie Browning of Middlesboro; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Gene was a testing engineer with Dexter Axle Co. for several years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of Bristol Missionary Church.
He often enjoyed spending time fishing, attending turkey shoots and repairing lawn mowers. He always had a story to tell to family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, and for an hour prior to the 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28, funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Terry L. Powell of Bristol Missionary Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bristol.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in memory of Gene.
