She was born Nov. 20, 1932, in Fisk, Mo., to Harvey W. and Ruby (Lambert) Morse.
She is survived by her husband, John T. Clemens of Elkhart, and her former husband and the father of her children, L.J. Freshour of Savannah, Tenn.; one daughter, Kathie G. Kettering of Elkhart; one son, Rex O. Freshour of Elkhart; three granddaughters; six stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Mrs. Clemens was the oldest of 14 children and numerous brothers and sisters also survive.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Marge Braden, spiritual care counselor for The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, South Bend, will officiate. Cremation will follow with entombment in Rice Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Clemens worked as a punch press operator at Taylor Products, Elkhart, for more than 20 years, retiring in the early 1980s. She was owner and operator of Clemens Concessions, a festival food business, for nearly 15 years. She spent most of her life pursuing her love of antique furniture collecting and reupholstering.
Mrs. Clemens enjoyed gardening, sewing, arts and crafts, crocheting and going to sales. She was a member of the Taylor Products Retiree Club and a Brownie troop leader for the Lakeland Council Girl Scouts.
