(Newsom) Granderson
April 24, 1942 – February 10, 2023
Addie L. Granderson, 80, of Elkhart, passed away to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Woodland Manor Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Blytheville, AR, on April 24, 1942, to the late Emmanuel Newsom Jr. and the late Lelia (Church) Wesley.
Addie is survived by her sons, Gerald (Brenda) Johnson and Tony (Regina) Dukes; several nieces; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and special friends, Corrine Lewis and Sophie Porter. She is preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Granderson; son, Michael Eugene Dukes; daughter, Cynthia Lorraine (Dukes) Howard; and sisters, Olivia Pratcher and Lenora Robinson.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 11 a.m. to noon at New Vision Life Church, 400 W Mishawaka Rd, Elkhart, IN 46517. A service will directly follow at noon at the church with Pastor Marvin T. Pace officiating. In accordance with Addie's wishes, cremation will follow at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart.
Addie was an ambitious and hardworking woman who was a faithful servant to her loving Savior and her church. She worked for Cressy Real Estate for 6 years, Chicago Metropolitan Insurance for 5 years, and worked in the laundry service for Elkhart General Hospital for 15 years prior to her retirement. Addie was a long standing and active member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Elkhart for many years serving as a mission's board member. She later became a member of New Vision Life Church.
Addie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family immensely. She had a very generous heart and had a good sense of humor that brought joy to her family when they were in her presence. Addie will be dearly missed by her loving family and community.
