IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aaron C.
Gillespie
December 26, 1969 – October 27, 2025
Aaron C. Gillespie, 55, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at his home on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 3:10 p.m.
He was born on December 26, 1969, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to William Sherman Gillespie of Elkhart and Cheryl E. "Shari" (Paul J.) Peery of Weston, Ohio.
Aaron is also survived by his devoted companion and best friend, Christine Hollar of Elkhart; his beloved son, Trent Gillespie; brothers Michael J. (Ann) Rudolph of Claremore, Oklahoma and Kameron C. (Shannon) Rudolph of Miami, Oklahoma; and his sister Jennifer C. Osburn, also of Miami. He is also lovingly remembered by a wide circle of extended family, dear friends, and neighbors — including many adoring nieces and nephews in the Oklahoma area, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Howard C. and Mary Ellen Wilson, and his aunt and uncle, Paula and Howard Spoerl, whose love and guidance helped shape the man he became.
Aaron was, at his core, a man of the outdoors — happiest with the sun on his shoulders and the quiet patience of a line cast across the water. A devoted fisherman, he found peace and purpose on the lake, where time seemed to slow and laughter came easy. Whether it was a simple weekend camping trip, a day out on the boat, or a fireside evening swapping stories under the stars, Aaron's spirit always felt most at home in nature's embrace.
But Aaron's love for life wasn't limited to the water. He was also a remarkably talented cook — part chef, part host, and all heart. He had a natural gift for bringing people together through food, turning simple meals into moments of connection and laughter. His kitchen was never short on good smells, warm conversation, or a place at the table for anyone who happened to stop by.
Known for his booming laugh, sharp wit, and generous spirit, Aaron had an uncanny ability to make everyone around him feel seen, heard, and appreciated. He approached life with humor and humility, often finding joy in life's small, unplanned moments — a trait that endeared him to all who knew him.
Though his passing leaves an empty space in many hearts, the memory of his warmth, kindness, and infectious smile will live on through every story told, every meal shared, and every peaceful sunrise over the water.
In accordance with his family's wishes, cremation has taken place with the direction and assistance of Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart.
Aaron's life, though far too short, was one rich in friendship, laughter, and love — the kind of legacy that never truly fades.
