ELKHART — A. Bud D. Meyers Sr., 87, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2011, at Greenleaf Living Center.
He was born July 8, 1924, in Goshen to the late Anthony and Catherine (Bentz) Bonfigilo. Bud married Lois Johnson on June 2, 1951, in Goshen.
She survives along with a son, A. Bud Meyers Jr., and daughter Cathy (Pete) Lavrich, both of Elkhart; a grandson, Nicholas Meyers of Goshen; sister Rosie Mecklenburg; and a nephew, Jan Mecklenburg, of Bronson, Mich.
Bud starting working at C.G. Conn when he was 18 and, except for serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked there for 40 years until they closed. Bud then worked in quality control at Syndicate Systems for 17 years. He was a 1942 graduate of Elkhart High School and an avid Notre Dame fan.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Burial will be private at Rice Cemetery.
