Trecia A. Howell-Tanner, 56, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Blytheville, AR on January 20, 1963 to the late David Howell and Hellen (Smith) Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Tanner; daughter, Vontia (Tyrone) Crockett; brothers, Terry (Sandy) Jackson, Jerry (Bonita) Jackson, Willie Jackson, and Tommy Howell; sisters, Shirley Grayson, Mildred Jackson, Janice Reed, Gwendolyn (Curtis) Jackson; her five grandchildren, Ja-Vona Emerson, Tyrone Crockett Jr., Tyvion Crockett, Definest Crockett, Beautiful Crockett, and Roberto Crockett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Allen Jackson.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Superintendent William Hackworth officiating of Unity Church of God in Christ in Elkhart. Cremation will take place at a later date along with a burial at Rice Cemetery at a later time. Memorial donations may be given to Vontia Crockett directly.
Trecia was a kind, loving, and fiercely independent woman. She was the CEO of her own company, Tanner-Tanner, which specialized in interior decorating, home improvement, and catering. She attended Christian Tabernacle Church in Michigan and the Unity Church of God in Christ in Elkhart. Trecia was very well known throughout the community and was recognized by the city of Elkhart for her giving nature and overall excellence. She was always very friendly to everyone she met and enjoyed being social. She also enjoyed decorating, shopping, and catering. Trecia will be missed greatly by her loving family and many friends.
