ELKHART — Minister Thomas R. “Tommy” Holliday, 64, of Elkhart, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior at 7:07 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2,  at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka with his family at his side.

Tommy was born  Dec. 2, 1952, in Elkhart, to the late Arlandis and Elviry (Andrews) Holliday and later married Ellen S. Moton on Aug. 5, 2006, in Elkhart. She survives at home.

Also left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters Tomeka (Eric) Banks of Salina, Kan., Roseanda Holliday-Piggott of Olathe, Kan., Tuvara (David) Wilson of Indianapolis and Tasha Beal of Granger; beloved sons, Iren Hatfield of Indianapolis and Eric Beal of Elkhart; sisters Dorothy Sanders and Bettie (Blease) White, both of Granger, Mearl Williamson of Elkhart and Beverly (Bruce) Taylor of Dallas, Texas; brothers Pastor James (Betty), Mark and Jeffery Holliday, all of Elkhart, Wilda (Mala) Holliday of Vacaville, Calif., Kirk (Barbara) Holliday of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lonnie (Sharon) Jenkins of Wisconsin.; aunts Juanita Smith and Esther Mae Andrews, both of Elkhart; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Tommy was preceded in death by brothers Arlandis and Victor Holliday and Todd White and sisters Lavella Hatfield, Theresa Holliday, Larcene Harris and Brenda Lee.

Tommy graduated from Elkhart Central High School and was a member of the 1970 Blue Blazer state champion football team where he started two straight years as running back.

He then went on to serve in the U. S. Marine Corps.

He drove for UPS more than 10 years but was employed at Kinro/Lippert of Elkhart at the time he took ill.

However, his greatest love was ministering to those yearning for the word of God through Unique Outreach Ministries COGIC of Elkhart.

He was an avid bodybuilder and weightlifter and enjoyed riding his bicycle, following a healthy lifestyle and helping others whenever he could.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is honored to assist the family with Tommy’s arrangements, with a visitation and service taking place at the AGAPE Missionary Baptist Church, 248 W. Wolf Ave. in Elkhart at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11 with services starting at noon.

Superintendent James Andrews will officiate and burial will follow in the veteran’s section of Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, with Elkhart DAV No. 19 and the USMC Funeral Honor Guard rendering military honors.
