Steven Douglas Dawson

Steven Douglas Dawson, 67, of Jones, MI, passed away Monday morning, May 6, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Steven was born to Robert “Bob” and Lorene Dawson on May 22, 1951 in Logansport. He married Mary Neece on February 16, 1996 in Martinsville, IN. She survives along with his son, Zac Dawson; daughter, Rachel Wagner; stepson, Joshua Neece; stepdaughter Nicole Neece; three granddaughters, Elysia Dawson, Kyleah Rose Wagner and Kaci Neece; his mother, Lorene Dawson and three sisters, Vickie Hults, Diane Winnings and Jody Milsted. He was preceded by his father Bob Dawson.

Steven attended Pioneer High School in Royal Center and Indiana University graduating in 1976. He received an Associate of Science in 1977 and a Bachelor Degree in General Studies in 1982. He had two years active duty from 1970 until 1972 in the Air Force and then transferred into the Indiana Air National Guard, where he served as an Aircraft Machinist Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1977 after serving for 5 years. Steven worked for MSC Industrial Supply as an HR Recruiter from 1999 until his retirement in 2013.

Steve loved his family, friends and his country. He had a phenomenal sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In honoring Steven’s wishes, cremation will take place. There will be no services at this time and the family request no flowers be sent. A family memorial service will be held at a future date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart. Memorials may be made in Steven’s name to Tri Lakes Community Church or The Wounded Warrior Project.
