Ruth Ann Estes

ELKHART — Ruth Ann Estes, 77, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Elkhart General Hospital. 

Ruth was born April 12, 1941, in Menominee, Wisconsin, to the late Harvey and Iva (Perry) Kent. 

She married Charles Edward Estes on Nov. 22, 1975, in Elkhart. 

Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Charles; son, Dennis (Connie) Swathwood, of Elkhart; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren;  a sister, Donna Swathwood of Elkhart; two brothers, Ronnie (Esther) Kent of Elkhart and Chuck (Sue) Kent of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. 

Ruth was preceded in death by two children, a son, Rick Swathwood, and daughter, Cheryl Harris, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Ruth was a housewife and an active member of Northside Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school and was involved in many of the women’s ministries. 

Ruth loved bird watching, animals, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Ruth will be at noon Thursday, May 24, with visitation one hour prior at Northside Church of the Nazarene, 53569 C.R. 7, Elkhart, IN 46514. 

Pastor Tim Sheets will officiate. 

Burial will follow in Olive West Cemetery. 

The families preferred memorials be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.

Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
